As we continue to think about time, I can’t help but think about priorities. They’re like bffs. We need time to honor our priorities and we need our priorities in check so we can really evaluate our time. Since we really dug deep on valuing ourselves and what we stand for, we know what our priorities are, right? How are you making your priorities known or expressed right now?
Take a moment to jot them down on a piece of paper - ask yourself - What are my priorities? Not priorities like take out the trash, what are your personal priorities? What keeps you fed and fueled? Maybe that’s prioritizing 10 minutes each morning for meditation, or prioritizing your lunch break to call your family instead of working through it at your desk.
Take some time to examine these pieces of your routine. Are your needs being met? Are you honoring your own priorities? If not, what are some action steps you can take right now to change that? Is there something in the way? How can that thing be adjusted? Maybe that’s having an honest conversation with a coworker about needing alone time, or maybe it’s deep-cleaning the bathtub so you can actually take a bubble bath.
Now’s the time to look back over your calendar and make sure you’re using your preferred time blocking system to include your priorities. Maybe that means blocking off Tuesday nights to have dinner with a girlfriend, or Saturday afternoons are for volunteering. You get to choose, but just make sure you do actually choose! Make room for the things you value most.
